What this procedure may address
Submental liposuction removes selected fat deposits beneath the chin through small access incisions. It may help define the transition between the chin and neck when the anatomy and skin quality are suitable.
Consultation topics for this procedure. Your clinician will explain the approach, risks, and alternatives for you.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Is this suitable for me?
Assessment distinguishes localized fat from loose skin, muscle-related changes, or chin and jaw structure. Liposuction alone may not address significant laxity. Your health and expectations help determine whether surgery is appropriate.
What should I expect during recovery?
Swelling, bruising, and temporary numbness may occur. Your surgeon may recommend a support garment and will explain when to return to exercise and normal routines. The contour is assessed after swelling settles.
What risks should I understand?
Risks include uneven contours, asymmetry, infection, bleeding, sensory changes, and injury to nearby structures. Skin may not tighten as hoped.
How much will it cost?
Veloré has not published pricing. Before committing, request an itemised estimate covering the procedure, any facility and anaesthesia fees, and follow-up care. Financing and memberships are not confirmed.
What matters in your assessment
A fuller area beneath the chin is not always caused by removable fat alone. Skin looseness, muscle bands and the projection of the chin can affect the outline. Your surgeon should examine these separately and explain which part liposuction could change. A new lump, painful swelling or another unexplained neck change needs medical assessment rather than cosmetic treatment.
How the procedure is planned
Submental liposuction removes selected fat through small access incisions using a thin suction instrument. The amount and location are planned around your anatomy, not a fixed volume target. Ask how the surgeon will protect nearby structures and avoid an irregular contour. The anesthesia plan and whether any additional skin treatment is appropriate need individual discussion.
Getting ready for surgery
Describe previous neck procedures, scarring, changes in weight and any difficulty swallowing. Bring your medication list and tell the team about nicotine use. Ask whether you will need a compression garment and how it should fit. Arrange time away from strenuous activity and check the follow-up plan before making travel or event commitments.
Recovery in everyday life
Swelling can temporarily blur the jawline and make the area feel firm or uneven. A garment may be prescribed, but tighter compression is not automatically better. Follow the fitted instructions and do not start massage or other treatments without clearance. Return to work and exercise should reflect your healing and the extent of surgery.
- Early healing: Arrange a ride and the help recommended for your operation. Follow instructions for wound care, medicines and gentle movement; feeling better does not mean the tissues are fully healed.
- As activity increases: Use follow-up to review the incision and agree on work and exercise. Driving requires safe movement and freedom from the effects of sedating medicines.
- Over the following months: Scars and remaining swelling may continue to change. Keep scheduled checks and ask about a result that is not progressing as expected.
Scars and longer-term results
Fat reduction does not guarantee that the skin will tighten around the new contour. Loose skin or deeper neck structures may still be noticeable. Small incisions still leave scars, and changes in weight can alter the result. Review the appearance after healing has progressed rather than expecting a sharp neck outline as soon as dressings come off.
Other options to discuss
If loose skin is the main concern, liposuction alone may disappoint. A facelift assessment may be relevant for wider lower-face laxity, while jawline planning can clarify the role of chin structure. These are different decisions, not automatic additions. Ask which part of the proposed improvement comes from fat removal and which would require another operation.
Costs and your estimate
Your estimate should reflect the treated neck areas, anesthesia, any separately agreed skin treatment and garment needs. Ask for the surgeon, anesthesia and facility charges to be listed, along with garments, tests, follow-up and any costs for a complication or revision. Confirm what happens if the plan changes or surgery is postponed. This website does not provide a confirmed price, insurance decision or financing offer.
Procedure FAQs
Will chin liposuction tighten loose neck skin?
It removes fat rather than excess skin. Some skin may adapt, but the amount is unpredictable and depends on its quality. Ask the surgeon to explain the likely remaining looseness before deciding that fat removal alone is enough.
Is this the same as jawline surgery?
No. It treats a specific fat compartment beneath the chin and sometimes adjacent areas. It does not change the jawbone or automatically improve every cause of a soft jawline. Your assessment should separate these issues.
When will I see the final outline?
Early swelling can hide the change, and firmness can take time to soften. Expect the contour to evolve over weeks and months. Your team should review persistent lumps or asymmetry rather than asking you to diagnose them from photos.
When to seek help
Before discharge, get written instructions explaining expected symptoms, warning signs, an after-hours contact and where to go if help is needed. Report worsening pain, fever, spreading redness, unexpected drainage or a wound that opens. Uncontrolled bleeding, chest pain, trouble breathing or fainting needs emergency care; call 911 in the United States. A website guide cannot assess a postoperative symptom or replace your team’s instructions.

A THOUGHTFUL STARTING POINT
First, let’s understand you.
Your profile reflects fat, skin, muscle and underlying structure. Ask whether fullness beneath your chin is primarily removable fat and how your skin may respond; fat removal alone may leave visible laxity.
